Here, Osha provides insight as to what it has been like working for the premier distributor in Oregon and Washington for the past 18 years.

A Day in the Life

The duties of the day warehouse manager begin bright and early, according to Osha. “I start at 5 a.m. to check last night’s production and sales, check emails, and look at today’s staffing, schedule, and workload.”

Each department contributing to warehouse operations falls under the responsibility of the warehouse manager. “Throughout the day I will check with each department – Delivery, 3tl, Recoup, Dunnage Yard, maintenance, receiving, replenishment, Will Call, POS, and DCI – checking in with leads and supervisors,” says Osha.

To ensure operations are running smoothly, Osha periodically tours the warehouse throughout the day to check for any safety concerns, look at general housekeeping, talk to employees, and check for projects that need to be finished. This attention to detail is critical to the warehouse team meeting expectations and reaching their goals.

Osha’s duties last all day and involve handing off operations to the last shift. “I will continue to assess the day’s workload throughout the day. After the day team wraps up, I will usually check with the night team to discuss handoff and other opportunities before leaving,” Osha says.

An Unmatched Company Culture

Columbia Distributing provides employees with a positive work environment that focuses on everyone’s wants and needs. This company culture is what stood out to Osha, who worked in the restaurant business until 2003 and then started working for Gold River Distributing, which is now Columbia Distributing’s Medford branch.

Osha explains, “The atmosphere was fun, and the culture was like family.”

Columbia Distributing stands apart from similar companies by emphasizing employee growth. We invest in our workers and are dedicated to seeing them reach their professional and personal goals.

“There are lots of opportunities to learn new things through training and mentors who will teach you things on the job. Leadership encourages you to develop your skills,” Osha says.
