Columbia Distributing is thrilled to announce the first ever release of Thorntail Hard Agave throughout our entire Washington and Oregon territory. Thorntail is the creation of Joel Vand
enBrink, founder of Seattle Cider Company and Two Beers Brewing. Joel has spent the last year meticulously perfecting the flavor profiles of his first three releases, Sea Salt Lime, Passionfruit Guava and Peach Strawberry. Thorntail comes in 6-pk 12-oz cans as well as a 12-pk 12-oz variety pack and is available in our warehouses now. Thorntail contains only 2 grams of sugar, 110 to 120 calories and is 5% ABV.
What is Hard Agave? Fermented from 100% pure Organic Blue Weber Agave from Jalisco Mexico with the same yeast as leading premium Tequila brands. Thorntail utilizes pure fruit concentrates which results in less sugar (and calories) than most canned cocktails.
Why Hard Agave? The surge in Tequila and canned cocktails has sparked consumer interest in exploring new options. With the continued rising demand for “better for you” choices, there’s a perfect chance to transition consumers from higher sugar, higher calorie RTDs to a similar yet distinct alternative. This particular option, taxed like wine rather than spirit-based RTDs, appeals to fans experiencing sticker shock from pricier RTDs. Finally, lower carbonation also offers relief from the sensation of “bloat” often associated with highly carbonated beverages.
